5 out of 5 stars A great buy for the price   March 20, 2009

My airsoft pellet gun came in a new box and the product looks new and unused. It looks real and it's a great buy. Of course it is spring operated, so it won't shoot through much stuff, but it's fun to play with and simple to operate. I am quite satisfied.

I purchased this fine weapon to carry as a sidearm into the jungles of Columbia on a recon mission for Blackwater. On the second day of my mission, I encountered a rebel patrol. They did not see me, and I slipped behind a tree. Sweat beads cascading down my painted face, I reached to my drop leg holster and worked my trusty AK-997 out as quietly as possible. The patrol was drawing near, and it was likely going to be me or them, this was no game. I gently racked the slide of my AK-997; the spring creaking as it moved back. I checked the breech; no time for an admin reload here. I could see my .12 gram bright green wal*mart BB strip off the magazine stack, wobbling slightly from the molding ridges as in seated into the chamber. The slide hung up in the forward position, so I gently gave it a push, being careful not to crack the plastic. I fingered the safety catch, but then remembered it was just molded on and didn't actually move.
As I peeked out from my hiding spot, I could see that the patrol was only a few meters away. I posted up the day-glo orange muzzle of my AK-997 against the tree, ready to pull through on the jiggly plastic trigger at any moment. Right as the rebels were about to see me, I made my move, since action is always faster then reaction- I leaned out and commanded they drop their weapons. They all co-operated, except for one, who had a sly look. As he bent over slowly to set his weapon down, I could see he was not about to go without a fight. Training my sights on him (knowing that the AK-997 shoots severely to the right), I was like a hawk. Suddenly, he made his move, and I all that muscle memory training kicked in; my finger squeezed the trigger, and my 6mm wal*mart special ammo connected with his chest. He must have felt it, because he immediately ran away. In a brief second, I racked another malformed BB into the chamber, but before I could get off another shot, the rebels had disappeared into the leaves...

The rest of the mission is confidential, but those are the details of how this fine weapon saved my life. After returning from said mission back to the states, I told my rough and ready colleagues of the incredible quality of this weapon, and now many of them run with the AK-997 as well, and it has seen service in more then a dozen countries.

4 out of 5 stars Great airsoft pellet gun for price   November 20, 2009

We bought this for our son to target practice. It is small and easy for him to use. It isn't the "best" airsoft gun out there but it is also $3. It works well for his 1st target practice gun and for him to learn gun safety rules with.

4 out of 5 stars Nice, don't drop it too much.   December 19, 2009

I think its a nice gun even though its made out of cheap plastic. For its value and sturdiness I would pay $15. Sometimes it may curve around but not drastically. It shoots around 200 fps and it cocks pretty easily. I've had it for three months and it hasn't jammed once. Sometimes it will load two BBs at the same time but you can hear and the extra one just falls out the barrel. A friend borrowed it and dropped the magazine so the part that holds it in chipped off but it can easily be solved with superglue, a piece of a lego, and a file. Pretty sweet. Buy it!
